Most of the first settlers in Temple were buried here, including Rev. Samuel Webster, the Patriot-Preacher; Francis Blood-Moses Child, whom Gen. Washington sent on a spy mission to Nova Scotia; and Ebenezer Edwards, who fought at Concord Bridge. The first burial took place in 1772.
