Forum Peak stands on the Alberta–British Columbia border along the Continental Divide at the southwest edge of Waterton Lakes National Park. As the southernmost mountain in the Canadian Rockies, it rises just 500 metres north of the Canada–United States border and is visible from the end of Highway 5 at Cameron Lake. Named for Forum Lake below, it is composed of sedimentary rock laid down in shallow seas from the Precambrian to the Jurassic and later thrust east over younger Cretaceous rock during the Laramide orogeny. The peak has a subarctic climate, with cold snowy winters, mild summers, and severe winter wind chill.
