Sequim Museum and Arts is a local history museum in downtown Sequim devoted to the history and culture of the Sequim-Dungeness Valley. Its most famous holding is the Manis Mastodon display, built around tusks and bones found at an early human encampment and linked to evidence of human contact with a mastodon thirteen thousand years ago. Other exhibits cover the region’s dairy industry, waterways, local art, natural history, and figures such as Joe Rantz and the nineteen thirty-six Olympic rowing team. Since its founding in 1976, the institution has expanded through mergers, new buildings, and stewardship of several historic properties.
