Brian Head is an 11,312-foot mountain in southwestern Utah, the highest point on the Markagunt Plateau and in Iron County. Rising in Dixie National Forest east of Cedar City and north of Cedar Breaks National Monument, it overlooks forested uplands and the dramatic terrain around Cedar Breaks. The peak was named for a government surveyor, and a Forest Service lookout built near the summit in 1934–1935 recalls its role in monitoring the surrounding high country. With the town of Brian Head and its ski resort at the western base, the mountain is both a major natural landmark and an unusually accessible high summit, reachable by road in summer.
