Built in 1861 by Confederate Army Captain William Alexander Campbell Jones, this wooden covered bridge began as an 88-foot Town's lattice truss span over the Sucarnoochee River on the main road between Livingston and York. Confederate forces under General Nathan Bedford Forrest later used the crossing during the Civil War. After replacement by concrete bridges, it was moved in 1924 to Alamuchee Creek and again in 1971 back to Livingston, where restoration preserved it on the University of West Alabama campus. One of Alabama's oldest surviving covered bridges, it also stands near the site where Stephen S. Renfroe was hanged in 1886.
