Chickasaw State Park is a 520-acre public recreation area on U.S. Route 43 north of Linden in Marengo County, Alabama, with picnic space, a playground, limited camping, and a place on the Alabama Black Belt Birding Trail. Developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps on land the state had owned since 1819, it reflects both New Deal park construction and later strain on Alabama’s park system. Budget cuts in 2015 led to closure or reduced services there, but in 2016 it reopened through a cooperative arrangement between Marengo County and the State Parks Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
