Built around 1880 and purchased by William and Maggie Ryland in 1888, this late Victorian-era farmhouse reflects the Queen Anne style and Eastlake design influence of the late 1800s. Its trim incorporates elements of nature, including a fish-scale motif in the east gable, a sunrise in the north gable, and bird's-eye trim around doors and windows. Originally located on North Highway 63 near Sturgeon, the 800-square-foot house was built with three rooms: a front parlor, a large open kitchen, and a single bedroom. It was moved to its current location in 2009 and carefully restored over six years. In 1917, William Ryland was shot and killed near the house by a neighboring farmer in a dispute about feed for his hogs.
