This 1955 24 ton double bay window Nickel Plate Railroad caboose was built in the NKP's Ironville shop in east Toledo, remained in service through mid-1978, and was saved from extinction in 1990 by generous local citizens, railroad enthusiasts, organizations, and businesses. Restoration and relocation efforts brought the caboose to Payne Community Park, where an actual railroad was built for it to sit on in front of the Depot, along with maintenance painting through the years.
