Alabama is positioned to remain important to America’s future leadership in space through NASA and its commercial and academic partners in the state, which will manage development of the Space Launch System, history’s largest heavy-lift rocket, and human support missions to Mars. Marshall’s specialized teams now manage science operations aboard the International Space Station and are developing new life support systems for deep space habitats. Marshall also manages many of NASA’s smaller deep space science missions, drawing on a crucial balance of science and engineering experience and a proven ability to integrate them to help America fulfill its space exploration goals in a new age of worldwide collaboration.
