In Greenwood County, a memorial erected on November 11, 1929 by Greenwood Post No. 20 of the American Legion, the Legion Auxiliary, and the county’s citizens honors the men who gave their lives so that liberty and justice might reign throughout the world. It is dedicated to those from the county who died in World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam Conflict, listing the names of the fallen in each war, including separate White and Colored rolls for World War I and World War II.
