Mount Halo is a mountain in Oregon's Umpqua National Forest whose earlier name, Swastika Mountain, came from the nearby extinct town of Swastika, founded in 1909 and reportedly named for a rancher's cattle brand. A fire lookout tower stood on the summit until the 1950s. In August 2022, the Oregon Geographic Names Board confirmed the mountain would be renamed to avoid association with the Nazi Party. On April 13, 2023, it selected Mount Halo over other proposals. The new name honors Chief Halito, leader of the Yoncalla Kalapuya tribe.
