George Ade was born on this site on February 9, 1866. In 1899, “Fables in Slang” was published. In 1902, he originated the musical comedy on Broadway with the premier of “The Sultan of Sulu.” In 1904, he had three Broadway plays running simultaneously. In 1908, Taft kicked off his presidential campaign at Hazelden. Ade died on May 23, 1944, in Brook, Indiana.
