Gillette City Hall was constructed in 1936 and was completely paid for by the City of Gillette without bonds or increased taxation, a source of pride for the community. The mayor's office, clerk's office, and courtroom were on the first floor with the fire department in the back, while the police department and city jail were on the lower level. In 1967, a large addition was constructed on the west end of the building to provide more space for the city fire department. All city offices were here until 1978. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior on September 27, 2019.
