Biedenharn Museum and Gardens in Monroe, Louisiana, stands beside the Ouachita River and combines the historic Biedenharn home and gardens with a Coca-Cola museum and a Bible museum. The house, built in 1913 as Joseph A. Biedenharn’s private home, is tied to his role in first bottling Coca-Cola in Vicksburg, Mississippi, in the summer of 1894. Furnished as it was during the years his daughter Emma Louise “Emy-Lou” Biedenharn lived there, the home reflects family life as well as preservation. Its ELSong Garden and specialized garden spaces, along with the two museums shaped by family interests, make the property a blend of domestic history, collecting, and landscape design.
