The Memorial Plaza forms the culminating feature of the memorial and marks the edge of the crash site, the final resting place of the passengers and crew of Flight 93. A visitor shelter and arrival court serve as a gateway to the story of Flight 93, with interpretive panels, a Leave Your Message wall, and park staff and volunteers present to answer questions and deliver programs. The long sloping black wall marks the northern edge of the larger crash site and debris field, while benches provide places for rest and contemplation and small niches allow visitors to leave tributes. At the edge of the field, a damaged hemlock grove remains, with a visible gap where damaged trees were removed, and a boulder at its base marks the general location of the impact site; the FBI excavated the site, and the crater was later filled in at the direction of the coroner. The Wall of Names, made of forty inscribed white marble panels, honors the passengers and crew, and a black granite walkway marks a portion of the flight path leading toward the impact site.
