Carsonville's high school building stood at this site and served area students from 1917 to 1975, when a new high school opened two miles east of the village. The building was razed in 1990, and the following year four new elementary school classrooms were built on its original foundation. This bell was removed from the roof of the old building before demolition. A rope located in one of the classrooms rang the bell to call students to class. The pillar supporting the bell was built using bricks from the old high school building.
