Warren County Fire Tower near Liberia in Warren County, North Carolina, was built in 1932 by the Aermotor Company of Chicago to watch over the surrounding landscape and detect fires across rural terrain. A four-sided steel truss tower with bolted connections, it rises 100 feet and reflects the utilitarian lookout tower design of its era, emphasizing visibility and durability. The county’s only fire tower, it remained in operation until 1993, providing more than six decades of service. Its local importance and its role in the history of forest fire detection in North Carolina were recognized in 2000 when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
