The Canton Veterans Memorial honors the men who died in the service of their country and recognizes all men and women who served so that freedom might live. It stands so that future generations will always remember. It was dedicated Nov. 11, 2001. Those named are Giovanni Filice, Austin E. Mahan, Antoni Smilowicz, Benedik Wicha, and Albert H. Johnson for World War I, John K. Luntta, Octave A. Martin, Jr., Stanley J. Zionce, Robert F. Olson, Frederick J. Yeske, John H. Stephenson, Jr., George H. Pierce, George L. Fournier, Sterling W. Bristol, Jr., Anthony Zommer, Gordon M. Goodrich, Joseph P. Charette, Michael B. Dubiel, Harold A. Parent, John M. Darosz, and Ralph G. Olson for World War II, Leonard H. Smith and Carl F. Olson for the Korean War, and Thomas H. Perry and Robert L. Scheidel, Jr. for the Vietnam War.
