A section car transported workmen by rail when tracks needed repair. Early models were propelled by a hand crank. Section gangs of six to eight men worked on assigned track sections of 4-5 miles, using these cars to get tools and equipment to places needing attention. Later, section cars were motorized, but they are still known as section or hand cars. This section car had been in pieces when it was donated to the Moravia Historical Society by the late Jay Wilson, and it was carefully restored to its original condition.
