From 1900 until 1915, this building housed various jewelry businesses, followed by the Bargain Spot and then a shoe shop in 1917. From 1919 to 1921 it was a millinery store, and early in 1921 it served as a feed store. Later that year, Pleasant Hill Times publisher Roy T. Cloud moved into the remodeled building and continued printing the newspaper there until 1961. After several owners, Jan & Kirk Powell purchased the business in 1989. It has served continually as a newspaper office since 1921.
