Mount Pinchot is a 13,500-foot summit in California’s Sierra Nevada within the Sequoia-Kings Canyon Wilderness of Kings Canyon National Park. Standing just northeast of Pinchot Pass and immediately east of the John Muir Trail, it occupies one of the park’s best-known high-country landscapes. Its importance lies less in isolation than in its place within the rugged crest country crossed by hikers and backpackers through the central Sierra. From the nearby pass and trail, Mount Pinchot stands out as a prominent peak overlooking a well-traveled alpine corridor in Kings Canyon National Park.
