Mount Perkins is a 12,566-foot summit on the crest of the Sierra Nevada in northern California, dividing Fresno and Inyo counties and marking the boundary between Kings Canyon National Park and the John Muir Wilderness. Named in 1906 by Sierra Club member Robert D. Pike for George Clement Perkins, a charter Sierra Club member, California’s 14th governor, and later a United States senator, it was first recorded as climbed in 1910 by Dave King. The peak is reached from the John Muir Trail and has routes by its west slope and north and south ridges, while its runoff drains west to the South Fork Kings River and east to Owens Valley.
