The Gratiot Drive-In was a beloved outdoor theater in Roseville for 36 years, opening in 1948 and providing entertainment until it closed in September 1984. It remained vivid in local memory for the pink neon glow of its huge sign, a playground with pony rides and a merry-go-round for children, and Fourth of July fireworks overhead. The drive-in was also known for its high waterfall, which pranksters once filled with soapsuds by pouring detergent into the water. A three-foot-tall model of the Gratiot Drive-In is displayed in the lobby of Roseville City Hall.
