Raitt Homestead Farm Museum in Eliot, Maine preserves a 33-acre farmstead first built in 1896 and rooted in the former Raitt family farm. Established by Charles A. Raitt, the property supported brick manufacturing, a sawmill, and an apple orchard before passing to Roland Raitt and shifting into a dairy farm during the Great Depression. After Roland’s death in 1962, Gerald Raitt inherited the farm, and the adjacent orchard was later brought back into the property. In 2003, after the Eliot Antique Tractor & Engine Association gained nonprofit status, Gerald donated the homestead to the group, which now preserves the farm, maintains its buildings, and teaches the community about farming history and nature.
