Lovers Leap State Park in New Milford, Connecticut, is a public recreation area where the Housatonic River cuts through the Housatonic Gorge, combining scenic hiking with visible layers of local history. Part of the park began as the eastern estate of Catherine Judson Hurd, who left her land to the state in 1971 for public use, and it later expanded across the gorge before being formally dedicated in 2007. Its notable historic features include the 1895 Berlin Iron Bridge, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the ruins of the Bridgeport Wood Finishing Company factory, and remnants of the Hurd estate, including the yellow cat tea house.
