Perry Methodist Church first erected an edifice in 1827 on the site that is now Evergreen Cemetery. Its second building stood in 1846 on the front half of this square and faced Washington St. The present sanctuary was built in 1860 - 61 after the other half of the square was purchased. An annex at the rear was added in 1950 - 51, and an educational building was erected in 1960 - 61. The sanctuary exterior was remodeled in 1906 - 07, and the interior was enlarged and refurnished in 1966 - 67.
