Henry Sparks (1753-1836), a Revolutionary War soldier from Virginia, served in the 3rd Corp. with the Commander-in-Chief's Guard, "the flower and pick of American army." While with this bodyguard, he fought at the battles of Brandywine and Germantown. He was discharged at Valley Forge in 1778. He came to Kentucky in 1795 and settled in present Owen Co. in 1800. He was buried at Sparks Bottom.
