Monument Rock Wilderness is a protected mountain landscape in eastern Oregon's Blue Mountains, spanning the Malheur and Wallowa-Whitman national forests. Established by Congress in 1984, it covers 19,650 acres of forest, meadows, and high-elevation headwaters rising from the Little Malheur River to Table Rock. Its varied terrain includes the headwaters of the Little Malheur and upper drainages of the South Fork of the Burnt River, with about 15 miles of maintained trails. Forests of ponderosa pine, fir, lodgepole pine, and aspen give way to subalpine fir at higher elevations, while grassy meadows and relatively undisturbed habitat support wildlife including black bears, elk, and wolverines.
