Oak Ridge is a crossroads community once traveled by Native Americans and later settled by Quakers and others in the 1700s. Its landmarks include the Old Mill of Guilford, circa 1767, Oak Ridge Institute, established in 1851, homes from the 1800s, and rural vistas. Its Historic District was created in 1994, and the town was incorporated in 1998.
