Martin Hill is a high, rugged ridge in south-central Pennsylvania’s Ridge and Valley Appalachians, linking Tussey and Evitts mountains within Buchanan State Forest. Its former fire tower site, at 829 meters or about 2,720 feet, is the highest point on the Mid State Trail, and the ridge is the second-highest summit in this Appalachian section of Pennsylvania, behind nearby Wills Mountain. Unusual for such a summit, it remains free of towers and transmitters, reinforcing its undeveloped character. Forested with oak, hickory, and other native trees, and home to wildlife including black bear and bobcat, it is valued for hiking, habitat, sweeping views, and remarkable remoteness.
