Pope Valley Pioneer Cemetery
History
This property was used for family burial in 1880, when property owner Elias Barnett, who had arrived in Pope Valley by 1845, died. In 1903, Elias’ oldest son Jesse and his wife Loraine Barnett set aside the small piece of land to be used for the burying of the dead and known as the Valley Cemetery. It is now on private property surrounded by vineyards, and the cemetery has been open to burial for all the people of Pope Valley and their relatives.
