Samuel A. Edmondson was born in Camden, S.C. in 1794 and died in Lowndes County, Miss. in 1869. He won fame and the gratitude of earlier generations by his daring ride from Ft. Stephens to Nashville, Tenn, to procure General Jackson’s aid against the Creek Indians.
