The heroes of Ontelaunee Township who made the supreme sacrifice in defense of their country in World Wars I and II were Charles C. Rissmiller in 1917 - 1918, and Calvin E. Althouse, Clarence E. Hartz, Howard A. Kunkleman, George W. Longlow, Eugene W. Rothenberger, Joe. W. Gruber, Ralph F. Reed, Elmer W. Shade, Warren P. Spayd, and Ellis C. Yoder in 1941 - 1945.
