Established in 1904 in Indian Territory, Hutchins & Sons Furniture & Undertaking was operated by proprietor, funeral director, and embalmer Richard Bawden Hutchins. Minnie Laura Cox Hutchins, his wife and mother of seven children—Thamazin, Gladys, Alfred, George, Joe, Dorothy, and R.B.—became the first licensed lady embalmer in the state of Oklahoma.
