Dwight David Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 in Texas and raised in Kansas. He excelled in athletics and academics, which helped him earn an appointment to West Point in 1911. Eisenhower served in World War I and quickly rose in ranks, eventually becoming Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during World War II. He led the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, and Italy to victory. After the war, he served as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army and as Supreme Commander of NATO Forces before becoming the 34th President of the United States in 1953. During his presidency, he negotiated the Korean Armistice and established the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization. After retiring from politics, he lived in a quiet small community in Indian Wells, California.
