Russell Mountain is a summit in Iron County, Missouri, just east of Taum Sauk Mountain and closely connected to the region’s high country by the Tom Sauk Trail along its ridge. It is reached by way of Missouri Route CC from routes 21 and 72, with Ironton about six miles to the northeast. The mountain’s name most likely comes from Giles Russell, a businessperson linked to the local mining industry, tying the landscape to the area’s economic history as well as its rugged terrain.
