Bruneau–Jarbidge Rivers Wilderness protects a remote section of southwestern Idaho’s high basalt plateaus, deep canyons, and the Bruneau and Jarbidge rivers in Owyhee County. It preserves part of the Owyhee Desert within the Snake River–Columbia River drainage and includes long stretches of both rivers, with a small road at Indian Hot Springs dividing it into two units. Established in 2009 as one of six Owyhee Canyonlands Wilderness Areas, it was part of a law adding 517,025 acres of wilderness in Idaho. Known for whitewater rafting and wild river segments, it also shelters threatened bull trout, Great Basin redband trout, bobcat, river otter, and bighorn sheep under undeveloped wilderness protection.
