Big Jacks Creek Wilderness is a protected area in southwestern Idaho on the high basalt plateaus of the Owyhee country. Bordering the Little Jacks Creek Wilderness, it includes about 35 miles of Big Jacks Creek classified as a wild river flowing north to the Bruneau River within the Snake River drainage. Its elevations range from 2,808 to 5,872 feet, with canyons cut as much as 655 feet deep. Sagebrush dominates this Owyhee Desert landscape, with native grasses, wetter-site shrubs, trout, mountain quail, bighorn sheep, and two sensitive plant species. Established in 2009, it is managed to remain undeveloped while allowing limited recreation under wilderness rules.
