During a summer storm in 1806 on this site, five Williams College students—Samuel J. Mills, James Richards, Francis L. Robbins, Harvey Loomis, and Byram Green—took shelter by a haystack and dedicated their lives to the service of the Church around the globe. Their decision gave rise to the American Foreign Mission movement.
