Mount Raimer, a 2,572-foot peak in the Taconic Mountains on the Massachusetts–New York line, rises above the Hoosic River valley with views reaching toward the Hudson River valley. Its summit ridge blends meadow and woodland, and the mountain includes protected conservation land crossed by the 35-mile Taconic Crest Trail. Nearby Petersburg Pass cuts through the ridge just north of the summit. Mount Raimer also became a regional recreation site when lift-served skiing began there in 1962 at Petersburg Pass Ski Area. After later operating as Taconic Trails and then Mount Raimer, the ski area closed in 1980, though some trails and glades have been used again for backcountry skiing since about 2010.
