The City of Shelton erected an honor roll tablet in November 1918 in honor of the men of the community who served in the military or naval forces of the country, and it identified a group at the center as having died in service: Thomas Arena, Joseph Bernabeo, John Budzensky, William R. Dunn, Shester A. Gade, Edward Gardner, Peter T. Gibbons, T. F. Haussler, John McKay, Raymond B. Scranton, Charles W. Sutter, and William H. Von Werder, followed by a long roster of other community members honored for service.
