During World War I, from 1914 to 1918, Lincoln County lost Ira Ramsey, Elijah Adkins, Wyatt Roberts, Robert G. Adkins, Floyd Clay, Roy McKinney, William Neace, Chester Holley, Cal Thompson, Virgil McClure, Alva Midkiff, Jake Smith, Willard Spurlock, W. P. Lee, Zachariah Pauley, Charley Hill, Howard Chandler, Millard Smith, Farm Nelson, Arnold Napier, Dick Roy, Joe Pullen, and Sterling Bias, who gave their lives to secure the freedom of mankind and were remembered as heroic sons.
