Liberty Mountain is a 5,680-foot summit in the Boulder River Wilderness of the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, near Three Fingers in a rugged part of Snohomish County. Named by miners from the Silverton area, it reflects the nearby western Cascades’ mining past. The mountain stands within a landscape shaped over millions of years by tectonic uplift, faulting, terrane accretion, and repeated glaciation, which carved the region’s steep ridges and U-shaped valleys. Its maritime Cascade climate brings heavy rain, deep winter snow, and avalanche danger. Today it is valued chiefly as a backcountry landmark in protected forest land.
