The Kansas home of Charles Ingalls's family from 1869 to 1870 is associated with Laura Ingalls Wilder's famous children's book Little House on the Prairie. Carrie Ingalls, the third daughter, was born here on Aug. 3, 1870. The site was also associated with Sunny Side School from 1872 to 1946 and the Wayside Post Office from 1874 to 1976.
