The Southern California Railway Museum in Perris preserves Southern California’s rail history through both exhibits and operating trains. Founded in 1956 and renamed several times before taking its current name in 2019, it is especially strong in electric railway preservation. Its holdings include the world’s largest collection of Pacific Electric Railway rolling stock and a notably complete group of Los Angeles Railway streetcars, many rescued after passenger service ended. Visitors can ride historic equipment on loop and main lines, while major pieces include Santa Fe 108, Southern Pacific 3100, and equipment from Ward and Betty Kimball’s Grizzly Flats collection. The site remains a leading center for railway preservation and demonstration operation.
