Mount Holyoke Range State Park preserves the eastern half of the Holyoke Range in Massachusetts' Pioneer Valley, adjoining J. A. Skinner State Park on the western half under shared state management. Its creation grew from a long public effort to protect the ridge, with state land acquisitions beginning in 1940 and more targeted purchases of land and easements after 1975 helping assemble the park. Today the range supports hiking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, picnicking, and restricted hunting, while sections of the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail and the Robert Frost Trail cross the park. A visitors center stands near The Notch on Route 116 in Amherst.
