Mount Frissell, a 2,454-foot peak in the Taconic Range on the Massachusetts-Connecticut border, is notable because its south slopes contain Connecticut’s highest point, though that state’s highest summit is Bear Mountain. Most of Mount Frissell lies in Massachusetts within Mount Washington State Forest, with its southern side descending into Salisbury, Connecticut. The mountain is traversed by the Mount Frissell Trail, which connects with the South Taconic Trail and the Appalachian Trail, and the route also passes the Connecticut-Massachusetts-New York tri-state marker. Its location and divided drainage toward both the Housatonic and Hudson watersheds add to its geographic significance.
