Hypoluxo Scrub Natural Area is a 97-acre protected tract in Hypoluxo that preserves Florida scrub centered on flatwood scrubland, an increasingly rare habitat in coastal South Florida. Located along Hypoluxo Road and U.S. Route 1, it is designed for low-impact exploration with hiking trails, a nature trail, and a multi-level observation tower overlooking the preserve. The site also includes a 14-foot statue of the Barefoot Mailman. Its name reflects older local geography: Hypoluxo comes from the Seminole name for what is now Lake Worth, referring to the enclosed waters and wetlands that once shaped the area before the lake was renamed for William Jenkins Worth.
