Evansburg State Park preserves three thousand three hundred forty-nine acres of the Skippack Valley in Montgomery County, where forests, meadows, old fields, and active farmland reflect a landscape shaped since William Penn’s eighteen eighty-four purchase from the Lenape. Early Mennonite settlers, attracted by religious freedom, cleared forests and built farms, stores, and mills along Skippack Creek, and growth increased after Skippack Pike opened in seventeen fourteen. The valley stayed mostly rural until postwar suburban and industrial expansion. Established in nineteen seventy-nine, the park protects that rural character, offers extensive recreation, and retains historic sites including the Indenhofen Farm and Kuster Mill.
