H. P. Brodnax, born in 1769 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, was admitted to the Kentucky bar in 1796 and about 1801 was a law associate of W. P. Duval, who became the first territorial governor of Florida. He served as circuit court judge in Logan County from 1804 to 1830, built this house, and lived here about 1830 to 1839. He died in 1857 in Russellville. Pioneer physician Dr. N. T. Conn acquired the house in 1854. The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
